Met Gala 2014

We've seen a big variety of styles and colors on the red carpet yesterday, but the theme (Charles James) wasn't really respected. In general, I was a bit disappointed, the celebrities didn't take risks in their choices, a lot wore cropped-tops with long skirts, or the classic coupe ciraine... I was expecting more ball gowns, more vintage looks. Last year, there were some interesting and daring choices with the punk theme; but this year, the gowns were beautiful but very modern-classic. I was hoping to see some old Hollywood glamour, 50's fashion according to the theme, princess gowns... Anyway, here's almost all the evening dresses, enjoy and give me your opinion, here or on my account "fashiongourmande" on instagram.

Met Gala 2014, what to expect?

After last year's "Punk: Chaos to couture", the Met Gala is back with an amazing new theme, "Charles James: Beyond fashion"; what a great choice to celebrate 50's fashion and honor this legendary couturier, who has revolutionized  the world of fashion with his breathtaking ball gowns. Charles James designed an important variety of silhouettes, always pushing the boundaries of creativity. His gowns are unique; till now, he is recognized and admired for his exceptional and incredible taste. It's a real honor for the Metropolitan Museum of art to expose James' ball gowns. The dress code for the event, is eventually vintage ball gowns, with the gloves and the rest of the accessories; and for men, back tailcoat and of course a white bow tie. Can't wait to see the celebrities' gowns, it's going to be royal. I'll be posting the best and worst red carpet dresses, stay up to date!
Here's some Charles James' designs, for you to get an idea of Monday's theme.

Kate Moss for Topshop

After three and a half years, the supermodel Kate Moss is finally back for a spring/summer 2014 collection with Topshop. They are already working on the range, which will include 40 pieces, spanning womenswear, footwear and accessories. The collection celebrates the British fashion, completely inspired by Kate's personal style. There's not a lot of details yet, but I think the collection will present festive-chic dresses, classy and relaxed items, maybe a bit inspired by the Gatsby look. The Kate Moss collection will go on sale globally in April, in 40 countries.

"I have really missed being involved in the design process, and working with the team Topshop. I am very excited to create a new collection that bears my name. Now more than ever, with London being at the forefront of fashion as it feels like I'm back home working with Topshop."

The new hit fashion collaboration

With this new collaboration, shoes can express your mood with the emojis that you already know through the iphone! In fact, the shoe brand Del Tero and handbag label Edie Parker have teamed up for an exclusive accessories collection with Moda Operandi. The collection includes velvet slip-on shoes, decorated by colorful graphic placements (the emotions) like explosions, angel/devil faces, even poop; and luxurious clutches  with hashtag symbols and emojis. These playful accessories are taking the classic bag and shoe to a whole new level; the fashion collaboration is classy and funny at the same time. I particularly love the shoes, they can definitely style up an outfit, with boyfriend jeans for example, or a printed dress. The clutches are perfect for teenagers soirées, they give a sexy and fun touch at the same time.
These fashionable items are already available to pre-order now, with prices starting at $340 for the loafers, and $1595 for the bags.
