The Winter Skirt

I have to admit, wearing skirts in winter is not very easy because you have to match them with the perfect top, the right jacket (or coat) and the coolest tights. It's not like during summer when you can just match a skirt with a cropped top. The task is much more complicated here, especially that most of the skirts are high wasted. I had the same problem in the beginning of the season because usually most of the sweaters are long so they cover and ruin the shape of the skirt. Regarding the top, I suggest a cropped sweater or a tight top with a long coat (and if possible, have the length of the coat a little bit shorter that the skirt). These two suggestions work for any kind of skirt, all occasions included. And if you don't have a cropped sweat, you can wear any sweater and tie it in the middle or on the side. Of course don't forget to accessorize your outfit with scarves, hats, sunglasses or jewelries. And for the colors, if you pick a simple black skirt for example, you should light up the outfit with a colorful and patterned sweater or coat; and if you choose an original colorful skirt, match it with some simple items to keep the emphasis on the skirt. You can also form a whole outfit with a single color but make sure to vary the materials (for example a black outfit formed of leather, silk and velvet). And regarding the tights, most women are more comfortable with simple black tights and I definitely agree with them. But of course if you want to push the style bar even higher, you can choose colorful and patterned tights. And in this case, try to stay simple with the rest of the accessories to really highlight the combination of the skirt and tights. If the skirt is too original, I would avoid taking risks with preferably simple tights. And finally, try to also avoid flesh color tights (it's an advice by an amazing Brazilian stylist who I look up to: Cristina Cordula). A lot of super stylish skirts are available in most stores, the shapes and materials are just breathtaking. Here are some examples with some explications related to what I just said.

Leather wavy skirt from Zara.

I wore the Zara skirt with a simple black sweater that I tied and I added a cozy scarf also from Zara and wool socks from H&M.

Printed skirt from Urban Outfitters.

I wore this stylish skirt on a rainy day with a simple H&M sweater and a vintage denim jacket.

Tight printed skirt from Topshop. I bought it recently at an amazing price! I suggest here an oversized simple sweater or even a printed sweater if you want to be crazy.

Tight leather skirt from Zara.

Mini skirt from Aizone. I love this kind of skirt because they are cool and tricky, you tend to confuse them with shorts.

Huge choice at Zara, hurry up!

Zara goes sexy flexy.

Vero Moda has cool party skirts.
